Daily Devotional – Wisdom Doesn’t Hide Itself

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Proverbs 27:1-10. This year has proven the scripture that our plans are not guaranteed. All of us have had numerous plans canceled because of the lockdowns and quarantines around the globe. We might make our plans, but God directs our path!

“Do not boast about tomorrow,
for you do not know what a day may bring.

Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth;
an outsider, and not your own lips.

Stone is heavy and sand a burden,
but a fool’s provocation is heavier than both.

Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming,
but who can stand before jealousy?

Better is open rebuke
    than hidden love.

Wounds from a friend can be trusted,
    but an enemy multiplies kisses.

One who is full loathes honey from the comb,
but to the hungry even what is bitter tastes sweet.

Like a bird that flees its nest
is anyone who flees from home.

Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart,
and the pleasantness of a friend
    springs from their heartfelt advice.

10 Do not forsake your friend or a friend of your family,
and do not go to your relative’s house when disaster strikes you—
better a neighbor nearby than a relative far away.”

Like perfume, bring a sweet scent to others

When you love someone, you stand on the rooftop and shout about it. Overcome with joy and excitement it is hard to contain the news. We want everyone to know that we have found one that is worthy of our attention and affection.

Good news is always so willingly received in an announcement, while we want to quash bad news. There is no embarrassment or condemnation for us in Christ. Jesus went to the cross knowing the worst sins that humanity could commit. He died and paid the price so that we could be free from the sins.

We are as free as a bird flying up high in the sky. Hidden actions whether good or evil are actions of disgrace. Let us accept our rebukes and instruction with humility and build upon them in the open for all to see and to glorify God!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, for being closer than any friend. You have seen me at my worst and most vulnerable, yet You still shower me with love and acceptance. I run toward You with gratitude and joy today.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
