Daily Devotional – The Wisdom of Letting God

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Proverbs 12:1-11. I’m sure that you have heard, “Fake it till you make it”. We are encouraged by society to reach for the stars and be a star, and while you are not there yet, just pretend to be.

Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,

but whoever hates correction is stupid.

fall scents for your home

Good people obtain favor from the Lord,
but he condemns those who devise wicked schemes.

No one can be established through wickedness,
but the righteous cannot be uprooted.

A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown,
but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.

The plans of the righteous are just,
but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.

The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood,
but the speech of the upright rescues them.

The wicked are overthrown and are no more,
but the house of the righteous stands firm.

A person is praised according to their prudence,
and one with a warped mind is despised.

Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant
than pretend to be somebody and have no food.

10 The righteous care for the needs of their animals,
but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.

11 Those who work their land will have abundant food,
but those who chase fantasies have no sense.”

Sometimes our priorities get skewed by sin

Planning is not against God. There are numerous occasions where God speaks to the plans that He has and that we, His children have. Sometimes though we have different plans from those that God has. We fight and battle God’s purposes so that we can get our way.

While there is no harm in planning, it would be prudent of us to find out God’s plans first. God has planned a way that blesses and prospers us. I know for myself that have often made my own plans and asked God to bless my plans. I had in my mind these grand ideas of what I wanted, irrespective of God’s plans.

Let us, God’s righteous people, consider Him and His plans. As we seek Him and His plans, we will need to rest in His provision and leadership. Have faith that God is working things for His glory and our best!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, that You love and care for us. You have plans for us and Your BIG picture. I surrender my desires for Your plans knowing that You want and bring about a future of  joy, peace and purpose.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
