Daily Devotional – Which Way Do You Choose?

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Matthew 7:21-29. Each and every day we have choices and decisions before us. We have the opportunity to line these up to the laws and word of God, or to seek our own personal ways.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

The Wise and Foolish Builders

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.”

Let’s get serious about eternity and others!

The world is watching us. One of the biggest criticisms of Christians is the hypocritical behavior that the world witnesses. There comes a point where we have to choose a side. Western culture for the most part is apathetic and complacent.

For this reason, many immigrants from other cultures to the USA or Europe stand out. The children raised according to the old culture tend to work much harder with greater discipline than their peers.

As Christians, we are merely visitors to this world. We bow our knee toward a different throne than the rest of the world. Do we look like aliens in this world, or have we camouflaged ourselves so well that we live according to the world’s laws and standards?

Our decisions impact not only our lives and eternity but the lives and eternity of each person that we meet. Let us get serious and make a decision on walking before God as He calls us.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, that as Your children, that we are aliens in this world. Give me grace as I strive to live a life that is worthy of You and

In Jesus Name,

Amen
