Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Colossians 3:12-17. When it feels as though the world around you is falling and crumbling, peace is life-saving. The overwhelming and all-encompassing peace of God will give us a clear mind to see and know the truth.
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
To truly be empathetic of others and their situations require us to go through something similar. While we will never understand everything that others face and deal with, we can certainly recall how we felt.
The pressures, fears, and worries filled our minds at that exact moment. Our thoughts convince us that we are not good enough while it constantly picks at the problem like we do a scab.
Let us rather release our hold on the issues that we face. There is no victory in us holding onto the issue over it holding us. As we let go and let God, we can rest in Him and receive His peace.
God’s strength and peace will give us what we need to live out love despite the circumstances around us. People will marvel at the glory of God shining through your life!
Dear Father,
In Jesus’ Name,
