Daily Devotional – The Lamb was Slain

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Daniel 9:25-27. God had been dropping hints for many years. The Old Testament has over 300 prophecies telling us about our savior so that we would not miss the opportunity.

“Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One,[f] the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing.[g] The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’[h] In the middle of the ‘seven’[i] he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple[j] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.[k][l]”

Jesus warned us to not miss the signs

Daniel spoke to the messiah, the anointed one that would come to redeem God’s people. He was specific in the timeline and the events that would precede the arrival of the savior. Some of the teachers of the law acknowledged who Jesus was. They were the ones that truly knew the laws and prophecies.

These teachers of the law were also open and watching the events of the day. They were anticipating the arrival of their savior. Jesus came to save them, but He did not come according to human understanding. Many of those living at that time missed the greatest miracle of all.

Let us be sure to keep our ears attentive to the whispers of God. Do not grow weary, but stay alert to watch all that happens around you. God is moving and doing great things each day so let us not miss out on what He is doing.

Happy Easter!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You are always working and bringing all things to fruition for Your glory and honor. I am waiting on You and Your guidance.

In Jesus’s Name,

Amen
