Daily Devotional – The Battle is The Lords

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Ephesians 6:12-20. This battle we fight is not merely a battle of physical strength and intellect. No, as Paul says, we are in a war against satan and his demons.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.”

Are you fighting a spiritual battle in a physical world?

The tools that we sometimes use to take on our enemy, may be powerful and effective in a different situation. Fighting in a spiritual battle with physical weapons will not lead to a successful war.

The weapons that we have to overcome our enemy are found in the word of God. Firstly we need to stand form in prayer. Stand clothed in your salvation provided by the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus is the most powerful weapon and no efforts or weapons from satan can stand against the flowing blood of our savior Jesus.

Another powerful weapon is praise and thanksgiving. Our praise and thanksgiving usher us into the presence and courts of the King. All lies and enemies are unable to stand before the Lord of all creation. Remember that the battle is the Lords, and so our prayers and praise allow us to let God work and bring about His victory!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, that You rule and reign over everything. The victory has been secured by the blood of Jesus. I choose to focus my attention on You and Your wonder. I give all the challenges before me over to You, after all this battle is Yours and not mine.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
