Daily Devotional – Thankful for Peace and Forgiveness

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Colossians 3:12-17. This week we will look to stop and count the blessings in our lives. We have much to be thankful for. To start, let us be thankful for the peace that our salvation brings.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Thankful for our salvation

Be thankful for your salvation. The fate of our eternal life has been secured. You get to walk this earth with the knowledge of God’s salvation. With the knowledge that Jesus’ blood has paid the ultimate price, be confident in your identity.

Walk, in peace! You do not need to work towards or aspire towards anything. Rather than a spirit and sense of falling short all the time, we should be consumed by the peace of God. He has done all that we could ask and then some. Rest in His works and ways.

There are many other people that walk this earth without any peace. They may live in fancy houses, drive comfortable cars, and eat the best food, but they are not living in peace. Their hearts, minds, and spirits are filled with turmoil. I am thankful for God’s peace that He has enveloped us in.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, for the salvation that you bought on the cross. Your blood has paid my debt for sin, allowing me to draw into your presence. Thank you for Your peace. A peace that supersedes all fear.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
