Daily Devotional – Thankful for Enduring Love

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 107:1-9. As a parent, I have loved my children before I could even see them. While they grew in the womb, my love grew for them.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his love endures forever.

Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—
those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
those he gathered from the lands,
from east and west, from north and south.[a]

Some wandered in desert wastelands,
finding no way to a city where they could settle.
They were hungry and thirsty,
    and their lives ebbed away.
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
He led them by a straight way
to a city where they could settle.
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind,
for he satisfies the thirsty
and fills the hungry with good things.”

Loving forgiveness that picks up up

As a sinful human, my love for my children is still fallible. It is hard to admit that my love for the blood and flesh of my own is not pure and truthful. I will fail my children and all others that I love.

It is not that I am looking for an excuse to blame for missing the mark, but it needs to be considered. I choose to love my children and all those that my path crosses despite shortcomings and failures. Even though I will try to love you no matter the situation, know that I will fail you as I retreat into my sinful condition and ways.

While I may let you and others down, our Father in heaven will never let us down! Not only is His love pure and perfect, but His enduring love is steadfast through the years. Life is not about the way that we start, but where we find ourselves at the end. No matter, where, what, or why, God’s love is true.

Let us always run towards the embrace of Jesus our savior, because He will always be there to lift us up!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that You stand firm with Your love and kindness. It is who You are and I am truly thankful that You are so good!

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
