Daily Devotional – Pillar 5 – It Takes a Village

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Job 25:1-6. Our communities were planned as a spiraling, overflowing web of people that went outward from the individual family unit. From the singular person, our actions ripple out through our family, church, community, and world.

“Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:

“Dominion and awe belong to God;
he establishes order in the heights of heaven.
Can his forces be numbered?
On whom does his light not rise?
How then can a mortal be righteous before God?
How can one born of woman be pure?
If even the moon is not bright
and the stars are not pure in his eyes,
how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot—
a human being, who is only a worm!”

A created web of people to carry the burdens

Within the very nature of God, we have everything. Everything! Intimacy. Union. Communion. Fellowship. Love. Community.” Del Tackett

There has been an onslaught towards the family for many years. The enemy of God wants to disrupt the social norms that were put in place by God. There is a concerted effort to impact the infrastructure offering support and love for each person. With these structures fractured, people caught within the spiral are drawn further apart from each other.

COVID-19 and the mandated quarantines globally have further disrupted our social norms. With the increased time apart and stresses, people are less trusting. We as a society have become even more insular than ever before.

God created everything with a purpose. Nothing exists without a purpose and role in the greater eco-system. God has designed our family, church, and community structure with a purpose. In the same way that God refers to us as His body, God has desired us to care and love each other as His hands and arms.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, that You have created everything and everyone with a purpose. You didn’t awaken with a surprise and have to create a solution. Help me by Your Holy Spirit to play my role in my family, church, and greater community so that I can be Your hands and feet.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
