Daily Devotional – Take Strength From The Past

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Numbers 15: 37-41. Have you ever experienced a supernatural intervention by God in your life and situation? Maybe you have missed it with your focus elsewhere?

The Lord said to Moses, 38 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘Throughout the generations to come you are to make tassels on the corners of your garments, with a blue cord on each tassel. 39 You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves by chasing after the lusts of your own hearts and eyes. 40 Then you will remember to obey all my commands and will be consecrated to your God. 41 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord your God.”

Finding strength from God’s Record

The priests of the old testament wore bells on their tassels. With every step, they would hear the bells that represented God’s saving grace from Egypt. With every step, God was reminding them of His goodness. God wanted to ensure that they never forgot His miracles because He wanted them to remember them when they came to Him in prayer.

We get to look back every time that we gather with believers. Partaking in the breaking of bread, we are remembering the sacrifice that Jesus paid on the cross for us. This remembrance is one that we all have in common. No matter where you find yourself in life, Jesus went to the cross for you. Remind yourself of that the next time you need strength!

We also have the opportunity to also look back individually at God’s handiwork. With eyes wide open to seeing God’s involvement in my personal situations, I can see His protection and leadership in my life. I can look back on when God provided financially for me and stand up confident because if He can do it then, He will do it now. Remember the tears cried in anguish and how God has restored the relationships in my life. I will recall how He has healed my body before, strengthening it and take on the disease that stands before me right now.

Strong and strengthened by God’s hand!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, that you worked in many situations of my life before. Not only did you die for me in the past, but you have worked miracles. Today I consider what you have done in the past to strengthen me and build confidence. I can stand strong because of Your guiding hands. Lead and guide me for Your glory today.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
