Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from James 3: 13-18. This among us will show our wisdom. Our steps and efforts to make peace with one another. Wisdom is not shown off by using larger words and confusing speech, rather wisdom is shown by our submission to peace!
“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”

Where does your peace come from?
A common trait that I see so very often in life is summed up in the phrase, “I know.” As a population largely educated, we have the book smarts and intellect gained from many years of studies. I fear though that we have lost wisdom and common sense in our studies.
Wisdom is not attained from our humanistic studies and book reading, no, that is intellect. According to James is a divine endowment. Wisdom is enlightenment from heaven which speaks to the truth of creation by the creator. All laws and precepts have been put in place by God to develop and produce peace and harmony throughout His creation.
If you sincerely seek peace and generously give mercy to all that you meet, James says that righteousness will be your harvest. Rather than inheriting bitterness and self-glory which will lead to our destruction, let us actively strive to sow peace and reap our right standing with God!

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, God, for setting out before us the ways to live a life of fulfillment and harmony. Empower me by Your spirit today to love and seek peace. In our peace bring your righteousness so that we can see Your Kingdom come!
