Daily Devotional – Sin Wiped Out

daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Acts 3:17-23. When we acknowledge that we can not save ourselves, we are left to release all of life into the hands of our savior. As we repent from our sin, Jesus is given the ability to wipe it all out!

“Now, fellow Israelites, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders. 18 But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Messiah would suffer. 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus. 21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. 22 For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. 23 Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from their people.”’[a]

The power of the cross is evident in our surrender

While we do not comprehend the burdens that we walk through life carrying, we think that everyone carries the same weight. Ignorant to a life without the yoke of sin, we suffer and continue thinking that this is just how life has to be.

fall scents for your home

That is until the Holy Spirit opens our eyes. When our Father reveals the miracle of salvation without works and justification we are filled with such great joy. We are saved not because of anything that we have done, but saved through the mercy and sacrifice of Jesus.

The power and effectiveness of Jesus’ death are fully seen when we leave our salvation 100% upon Jesus. All that our efforts achieve is to hinder and interfere in the saving power of the cross. Let us loosen our grip today on our life, and trust completely in Jesus and His love.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that You have provided the way to salvation. Forgive me for so often trying to do it my way. Today I repent from a life lived on my terms and I choose to live under Your grace and mercy.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
