Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Isaiah 48:14-19. The law was created to protect and provide structure to our lives. Set within the correct environment, human beings will thrive and grow.

“Come together, all of you, and listen:
    Which of the idols has foretold these things?
The Lord’s chosen ally
    will carry out his purpose against Babylon;
    his arm will be against the Babylonians.[a]
15 I, even I, have spoken;
    yes, I have called him.
I will bring him,
    and he will succeed in his mission.

16 “Come near me and listen to this:

fall scents for your home

“From the first announcement I have not spoken in secret;
    at the time it happens, I am there.”

And now the Sovereign Lord has sent me,
    endowed with his Spirit.

17 This is what the Lord says—
    your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
“I am the Lord your God,
    who teaches you what is best for you,
    who directs you in the way you should go.
18 If only you had paid attention to my commands,
    your peace would have been like a river,
    your well-being like the waves of the sea.
19 Your descendants would have been like the sand,
    your children like its numberless grains;
their name would never be blotted out
    nor destroyed from before me.”

Hear the words of our lovingly Father

God draws us nearer, calling us to come and listen to His words and wisdom. He wants what is best for us, what will profit us and bring us joy, peace, and love. As the one who created it all and put it all into place, God reminds us that if anyone will know, He does!

None of our earthly possessions or small-minded ideas have been accurate in foretelling what we will see in this life. God is the one who will bring His plans and purposes together no matter what we may try to do in our own efforts.

Let us give way to God and His leadership. May our stubbornness melt away in the splendor and majesty of the all-powerful God of all! As we surrender God will give us righteousness and profit.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that Your forgiveness covers my hard-headed and selfish efforts. Forgive me for thinking that I would do a better job than You in caring for and providing for me and my family.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
