Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Hebrews 5: 1-10. Bowing our knee and calling Lord, Lord requires our perspective and attitude to be one of reverence and humility before God. It is phenomenal to see how Paul in his letter to the Hebrews goes on to explain how Jesus subjected His will to that of the Father. He totally understood to whom He was speaking.
Like Jesus, it often feels as though our prayers are fervent. Our tears poured out before and during prayerful times are heartfelt and genuine. We have prayed for deliverance, salvation or healing of others passionately out of love.
Isaiah 1: 15 is an example from God how He can turn His ears from our prayers and not listen. Paul outlines again that God requires our reverence. We live in a world where everyone has an opinion and thinks that only their ways are correct. Pride cripples us, not allowing us to evaluate our attitude towards the Almighty God when approaching Him. If all the creatures before God in Heaven are face down in reverence for Him, shouldn’t our attitude be the same?
Dear Almighty God
I come before you today, acknowledging that You are the Almighty God that holds all things created together. You hold it all in the palm of Your hands. You alone are worthy of worship! May all my words and actions today be pleasing to you! I choose to exalt You in my world and the minds of those around me!
In Jesus’ name, Amen
