Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Isaiah 46:8-11. The world and our lives are not just for us and our pleasures. Jesus put it best saying “He who seeks to save his life will lose it.” We have been created by and for our creator.
“Remember this, keep it in mind,
take it to heart, you rebels.
9 Remember the former things, those of long ago;
I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me.
10 I make known the end from the beginning,
from ancient times, what is still to come.
I say, ‘My purpose will stand,
and I will do all that I please.’
11 From the east I summon a bird of prey;
from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose.
What I have said, that I will bring about;
what I have planned, that I will do.”
History keeps repeating itself
“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” George Orwell

History is the best example of God’s might and plans. We can see how God has been hard at work from the beginning right till now. As George Orwell said, not only does God control the past, but the future. We can look throughout ancient history to the more recent history to see examples of God’s love and provision.
Each of us plays a small role in a BIG picture. God is orchestrating the lives, powers, and authorities in your life, communities, countries, and planet. His symphony will come together and worship Him. “every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.” Romans 14:11. How majestic will that be, standing in a sea of people from all generations as we bow before the Almighty and Jesus our savior!
Often in our society, history is ridiculed and degraded because we do not like the actions and events. History is there for us to learn. Learn from the mistakes and learn how to trust God in faith because of His historical faithfulness.
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Father, that You have been faithful and true for every generation. I see Your plans as I read Your word. Help me to remember Your faithfulness and love in history as I face an uncertain future.
