Daily Devotional – Pillar 3 – What is Science?

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 14:1-7. No matter where you look, you see the handwork of God. God reminds us every morning with the sunrise and every evening with the stars that He is near. The creator and Lord of all the universe is easily found in the smallest of organisms.

The fool[a] says in his heart,

    “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
    there is no one who does good.

<

The Lord looks down from heaven
    on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,
    any who seek God.
All have turned away, all have become corrupt;
    there is no one who does good,
    not even one.

Do all these evildoers know nothing?

They devour my people as though eating bread;
    they never call on the Lord.
But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
    for God is present in the company of the righteous.
You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor,
    but the Lord is their refuge.

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
    When the Lord restores his people,
    let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

God’s fingerprints are all over you

“The chief aim of all investigations of the external world should be to discover the rational order and harmony which has been imposed on it by God and which He revealed to us in the language of mathematics.” Johannes Kepler

David reveals to us that fools are those that can not see what is staring right at them. When you study the earth, planets, and even us humans, it is very easy to find our creator’s fingerprints throughout. Science is the study of God’s creation, not the defiant action to prove God’s non-existence.

As we are delving deeper into the cells and DNA of creation, it is becoming harder for a scientist to claim and believe Darwin’s evolution theory. Psalm 19 claims that “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.

Everywhere that we look we see God’s love and provision. Gaze up at the stars or deep into the cells that make up every living thing, we find God and His actions. God has revealed his nature and character in His creation. So to better understand God, we need to better understand His creation!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, that You created us and all the world that we can see and not see. As the one who holds it all in place, I come before You with all my needs and heartaches. Help me to see You in Your creation and bring You glory!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
