Daily Devotional – So You Have Peace

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 16: 27-33. Jesus has warned us to be ready for the storms and struggles of life. Scripture does not point to a life of ease. Rather it points to a life struggling with internal and external forces.

No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. 28 I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”

29 Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. 30 Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”

31 “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. 32 “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Peace is a perspective?

Living in a world turned upside down at the moment is certainly unsettling. It is mentally draining trying to deal with the constant updates and changes to all that is around us. Our lives have been placed on pause in some aspects and made demanding in others.

I consider Jesus’ words where confirms that our lives will be full of trouble. Our faith and trust in God will be found on the rock that is God. He is strong, He is consistent and He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Jesus promised us peace. God’s peace comes from our perspective of faith and trust.

If we continue to see that God is in control despite what has happened today, we can have peace. God’s love for us sent Jesus to the cross and since His love for us has not changed, we can confidently trust Him with all that is happening.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, for your love and grace. Thank you that you displayed your love and commitment to Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Your love hasn’t changed over the years and I place my hope and trust in You at this uncertain time. May Your peace will reign throughout my day, circumstances, and life today.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
