Daily Devotional – Miracles of the New Testament 8

daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Luke 7:1-10. Faith is believing in and trusting in what you can not see with your eyes or touch with your hands. Is God worthy of all the faith that you have, for the miracles that you need?

“When Jesus had finished saying all this to the people who were listening, he entered Capernaum. There a centurion’s servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die. The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, “This man deserves to have you do this, because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue.” So Jesus went with them.

He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.” 10 Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.”

Faith like you have never seen before!

How often do you enter the throne room of the Almighty God on behalf of someone else? Consider the amount of love that the Centurion had for those around him that he traveled and sought Jesus. He went through all the effort, not for himself, but for one of his servants.

Jesus was taken back by the words, actions, and then faith of this gentile. One that had no formal religious teaching understood the principles and laws of God’s Kingdom. With faith built up on the testimonies that he had heard from others, the Centurion boldly approached Jesus for a miracle.

Let us think about this level of faith and love. May our lives be consumed with love and faith like this, because it will unleash miracles in our everyday lives!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You are the miracle maker. You are most able and willing to work miracles, and I stand upon Your word in faith for Your miracles today.

In Jesus’s Name,
Amen
