Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Matthew 8:23-27. People around us tend to test and reveal our hearts. While we can not control what or who does what to us, we are responsible for what comes from the storms of life.
“Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
I will praise God in the storm!
Being a citizen of God’s Kingdom does not give us immunity from the storms and challenges that we face on earth. It is not a matter of if, but when the storms of this world will build up and unleash in our lives. Despite the circumstances surrounding the storm, God is right there with us.
We always want to have our Father pick us up and remove us from the storms of life. We often echo the cry of the disciples, questioning if God truly loves us and why He has allowed the storm to brew overhead.
So often in scripture, we saw God warn the Israelites that they would face hardships. Jesus had also warned the disciples and us that followed about the guarantee of storms and hardships. Let us not be taken by surprise by the situations of life, but be so close to God that He can protect and shelter us!

Dear Father,
Thank you that You are my shelter and protection from all that life can throw at me. I draw nearer to You, my source and strength to give me all that I have despite the storms of life.
