Daily Devotional – Miracles of the New Testament 20

daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Acts 2:22-28. Jesus’ miracles provided a spiritual starting point for those whose hearts were open to the things of God. But for those who resisted God, miracles were an end in themselves.

“Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23 This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men,[d] put him to death by nailing him to the cross. 24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. 25 David said about him:

“‘I saw the Lord always before me.
    Because he is at my right hand,
    I will not be shaken.
26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
    my body also will rest in hope,
27 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
    you will not let your holy one see decay.
28 You have made known to me the paths of life;
    you will fill me with joy in your presence.’[e]”

Miracles bring our converted hearts to faith

We have looked at various miracles in the New testament recently. We have not covered each one that Jesus performed or was recorded by the authors of the gospels. There are two main purposes to the miracles that Jesus performed.

The first reason for miracles is because the lover of our souls couldn’t bear to be witness to the heartache and pain. So often it is recorded that Jesus was moved and took compassion. Our Father and Jesus care for each of us. Remember that no matter where you are, or what life has thrown at you, God’s heart breaks for you and I. He desires for us to be healed and whole!

In everything that God does, He works to draw us closer to Him through repentance. As we experience the majesty and might of our created, the only logical reaction is to fall before Him in worship!

As you have read through this collection of miracles in the New Testament, I hope that you have come to acknowledge your sin and God’s righteousness. Let us repent from our sins and come before our Lord in praise and worship!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that You have demonstrated Your love and devotion to us through the many miracles recorded in Your word. Receive my worship and adoration with joy and take glory in my words and heart’s devotion.

In Jesus’s Name,
Amen
