Daily Devotional – Maintaining Our Love Level

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Galatians 6:7-10. It is easy to become weary. Swimming against the tide saps the joy and energy out from us. It would be so much easier to just float along with everyone else!

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

Let us love each other

Recently I was snorkeling off the beach in Florida. For about 1 hour we swam against the tide, periodically diving down to get a closer look at God’s underwater creation. We were exhausted and trod water for a bit to catch our breath. As we looked toward the shore, we realized that we barely swam 100 feet in the hour that we were already in the water.

<

We turned around floating with the current and in 5 minutes, we had traveled the 100 feet of progress and another 300 feet. If we had been swimming with the tide from the beginning, you can imagine how much further we could have traveled, with much less effort.

It is very easy to look around and see how some seem to have benefited and profited from sin. As we put our heads down to push on and follow God’s laws and commands, we can easily become tired and frustrated. It is much more demanding for us to follow the decrees of God. Fighting our personal and general fleshly desires.

Don’t become overburdened and weary. Jesus has called us to give Him our concerns and desires. In return take up His love, and continue to love those around you.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, for offering us Your strength. You have told us to give up our burdens, fears, and desires to You. As I fight the tide of this world, I am grateful that You assume my weaknesses. Today, help me to maintain my love levels for each person that I meet.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
