Daily Devotional – Love Perseveres

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Romans 5: 1-11. Love never gives up! No matter how bleak and dire the situation appears, love stays the course and chases after the recipient. Love perseveres at all costs because the alternative is unbearable!

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we[b] boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we[c] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”

God broke through from the spiritual world and came to earth to die on a cross. Jesus knew from His birth that He was on course for the cross for a set-out appointment. Every day that Jesus walked the earth and with every breath, he drew closer to that day.

Jesus persevered and stayed the course until the end, the alternative was not an option. Without His death, we would not have received God’s forgiveness and redemption.

No matter the position you find yourself in, if you love someone, persevere! Continue loving them, continue giving them all that you can. The situation may seem useless, but love! True love will win in the end every time!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, that you overcame so many hurdles to show your great love for me. You persevered and have been a great example of how to love those around me. Give me Your patience and stamina as I try to love my family, friends, and enemies.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
