Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 37:5-9. Commitment and confidence come from the firm foundation of God’s love for us. Due to God’s continued mercy and grace, we can rest patiently in God’s love.
“Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.
7 Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For those who are evil will be destroyed,
but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.”
Anger only leads to evil
Love will overcome evil. No matter what, evil will always come a distant second to love because God is love. God is the victorious one in the end. No matter how evil and sin may win a few battles in your life this day, month, year, or a decade, love will always overcome.
Love does not retaliate to the actions of others like the evil men and women will. Evil will then defeat itself in time. It is like someone cutting off a piece of string with every sinful action. Eventually, there will be no string to cut off.
Love is patient and kind. It continues to show value and mercy to those that act in an evil way. They eventually come to their senses.
We need to commit to God and others in love. No matter their actions or words, we need to patiently sow love. We need to keep feeding them rope to climb out of their mire and evil situations. Jesus didn’t give up on us, and so we need to never give up on loving others.
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Jesus, for staying the course and remaining committed to us. Your love is the greatest weapon and healer at the same time. Give me the patience and strength to stick to my commitments of love to those around me. It is for Your glory and Kingdom!
In Jesus Name,
Amen
