Daily Devotional – Living and Dying Jesus Loved us

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Zechariah 12:10-14. Death could not hold Jesus. His love held Him to the cross and rose Him from the grave. We can place our hope and trust in the hands of Jesus.

“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit^[a] of grace and supplication. They will look on^[b] me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. ¹¹ On that day the weeping in Jerusalem will be as great as the weeping of Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. ¹² The land will mourn, each clan by itself, with their wives by themselves: the clan of the house of David and their wives, the clan of the house of Nathan and their wives, ¹³ the clan of the house of Levi and their wives, the clan of Shimei and their wives, ¹⁴ and all the rest of the clans and their wives.”

One Day Jesus will return for His church

While Jesus lived and walked upon this earth, He gave us the perfect example of love. He had compassion and lived generously. Jesus healed and restored those that He came in contact with. 

By dying on the cross, Jesus saved not only us, but He broke the chains of sin for every generation. Jesus’ blood flowed as it had been prophesied. As it flowed, it took the sins away and washed us all white as snow.

Then Jesus rose from the grave, conquering death and all that it meant. As the Lord of life and death, Jesus loves and intercedes for us all before the throne of the Almighty God. We get to call upon Him and have hope in His return and righteous rule.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your love and forgiveness, God. Help me by Your spirit today to live for You. I choose to live for the Lord of both the living and the dead.
