Daily Devotional – Living Among a Fallen World

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from James 5: 7-11. Our God is higher than any other and is with us no matter where we stand. For our God and Father created the world and holds the universes in the palm of His hands!

Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!

10 Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

If God is for us, then stay the course

First, the farmer prepares the soil. They then sow the seeds, and then they wait. The farmer can not reap the harvest of the days sowing, no, he has to wait. For weeks, the farmer will care for the crop. They check the progress to see if the plant’s produce is ready to be harvested. At the right time, a time designated by God, the crop is ready!

In yesterday’s devotional, we discussed how there is none like our God. If God is for us, and we are in His will, then nothing can stand in the way of His plans. So if God will achieve the plans that we have not yet seen come to fruition, it is merely a matter of time.

I would be a lousy farmer. I struggle with patience. You guessed it, I struggle to let God do His work. I try taking over the project and try to show God how it should be done. After many failures, to take a step back and watch God work His victory. I know who goes before me and is by my side, and He will not fail!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, that You are faithful. Thank you that You have it all in control and that You will be victorious. Forgive me for so often trying to take the reins. Help me to be patient like the farmer. Waiting for the right season!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
