Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Matthew 19:11-16. God desires that we come before Him vulnerably and truthfully. God desires that we remove the masks and fronts that we put up to protect ourselves from the world.
“11 Jesus replied, “Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. 12 For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”
The Little Children and Jesus
13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.
14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” 15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.
The Rich and the Kingdom of God
16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”
We can be vulnerable with God, He wants to be our protection!
Many people project their feelings and the relationship with their earthly father onto their heavenly Father. For some, they have suffered abuse at the hands of their earthly fathers or role models. Then others have been hurt over years by others. For almost all of us, we build walls around our hearts to protect us from more heartache, disappointment, and pain.
Jesus calls us to Him as children. Children as pure and untainted come toward God their Father without the walls and protections. Children also tend to come before their Father just as they are. Without pretense, children bare their lives and hearts before Jesus.
Let us forget our burdens and pains at the door and come before God truly and openly. We can trust God 100%!
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Father, that You have taken the first step to demonstrate Your love and commitment. You are more than enough and I give myself over to You and Your will completely. God what only You can do!
In Jesus Name,
Amen
