Daily Devotional – Life Changing Scripture 3

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Genesis 1:1-5. This is certainly a life-changing scripture. Without God creating the earth and all that is within it, we would never have experienced this life.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ² Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

³ And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. ⁴ God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. ⁵ God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.”

How our world was formed matters!

I believe that it is so important that the creation of the earth introduces us to the Bible. God put a fundamental and core belief in front and center. Do you believe that God created the earth, the universe, and all that spans the sky?

From our belief and humble perspective as those created by God, we would worship Him. Sin elevates our opinion of ourselves and we seek to receive the worship and glory rather than give it to the only one worthy.

Many men and women are craving the worship and adoration of others. People do anything to see their face on a billboard or the front page of a magazine. This is a side effect of sin and replacing the focal point from God to ourselves. God who can create this amazing universe, world and keep it in place should receive the honor and glory due Him. I might be creative, but I have nothing on God.

Reading the first verses of Genesis, I am reminded of how mighty God is, and how I was created for Him!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, that You created me and this earth, the universe, and more. I can not fathom all that You are. As the Lord Almighty and create of all, I worship You and You alone! Today I turn my focus off of myself and onto You alone!
