Daily Devotional – Lead with Your Love

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 13: 31-38. The road map for us as set forth by Jesus is to firstly love God with all of your heart and mind. Then to love our neighbors like ourselves. If we as the church of God, bound ourselves together in love, we would proclaim the gospel louder than any spoken word.

“31 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in him,[c] God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once.

33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?”

Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.”

37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”

38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!”

From a cup full and overflowing with love from God my creator, I actually have love to give away. People of the world are searching for love and acceptance and therefore can not give love out of their abundance.

I long to see the day that the church of God truly looks to each other with love in their eyes overflowing from their hearts. The greatest testimony to the world of the miracle God has given us through our new life is coming together as one body. With true acceptance and sacrifice for each other, the world will marvel at, and long to be part of the body of Christ.

It is Jesus’ command to us, to go and love each other as He loves us. Who will you go and love today the way Jesus has loved you?

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You have loved us. Thank you that you love suffered the cross and sacrifice for us. I now want to take that love and give it away so that You will be glorified through the love and commitment to my brothers and sisters of your body. Help me today to love others as You have loved us!

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
