Daily Devotional – Killing Sin Before it Kills You

daily edvotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 8:31-38. You and I were created by the Almighty God for a time such as this. God, the creator of all and ruler of all, chose to create us for Him and His Kingdom at this time. He did not create us as victims, but those to conquer!

“To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 38 I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.[b]

Are you bound and a prisoner to your sins and past?

What is holding you back from living life 100% sold out for God? Honestly, I find it difficult to trust God in fulfilling His word or promises. I think that this is largely based on me trying to fit God into my plans and desires for much of my life.

Some people struggle with their past and previous sins. Being weighed down and condemning themselves over sins that Jesus has paid for. The biggest reason why we remain bound to these sins is that we have not confessed these sins. Living with the fear of rejection and judgment, many of us do not share our darkest of actions and thoughts.

Let us confess our sins for Jesus, who has set us free from every sin is here to shower us in grace and give us true freedom!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You made the greatest investment in history when You died on the cross of Calvery. You invested in my eternity and today I want to invest in it too.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
