Daily Devotional – Jesus the Great High Priest

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Hebrews 14: 12-16. As we reflect on the word for today, we can but only be drawn to our knees. Through Jesus, we have received so much more than we could ever have earned on our own. I think about how God sits upon His throne, in “unapproachable light” 1 Timothy 6 v 16. Jesus intercedes for us before God the Father, as one who understands our shortcomings and experiences.

12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[f] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

Jesus the Great High Priest

How has your faith been tested recently? Have you felt down and out? It is so easy in these times where we feel downtrodden to question everything around us. It is easiest to question our faith, a foundation for the lives that we have built. The Bible goes on to say that our High Priest ( Jesus) can empathize with our weakness! Jesus has walked our walk, he has felt the rejection and sting of living in this world.

What better person to represent you to another than one that truly understands you and the experiences that you are facing.

Let’s Pray

Dear Jesus,

Thank you that you represent and intercede on my behalf. I feel privileged that you know and see all that I face. You also know and relate to these challenges before me. I am choosing to rest and release my concerns, knowing that you are in control.

Amen
