Daily Devotional – Jesus, Prince of Peace

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Isaiah 26:1-6. Jesus came to usher in peace. The peace that Jesus brought was not just some peace treaty signed, but an individual peace brought about from the salvation and submission to God.

We have a strong city;
    God makes salvation
    its walls and ramparts.
Open the gates
    that the righteous nation may enter,
    the nation that keeps faith.
You will keep in perfect peace
    those whose minds are steadfast,
    because they trust in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
    for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.
He humbles those who dwell on high,
    he lays the lofty city low;
he levels it to the ground
    and casts it down to the dust.
Feet trample it down—
    the feet of the oppressed,
    the footsteps of the poor.

A personal peace that offers external peace

We love, not because we can muster the emotion within sinful flesh, but because God has first loved us. Jesus came to restore the relationship that God’s creation had with Himself. God came to restore the wholeness of His creation. He knew that we had been searching for peace for many generations. Through Jesus, He created the opportunity for us to be restored to Him.

We can only have peace if we are restored to God. His presence in our life balances out our selfish desires. With God as our sole provider, we need not wheel and deal to provide for ourselves. Rather we need to rest in God and who He is. Our rest in Him provides us with inner peace. Our faith backs up this belief as we trust in God to provide for us as He does the rest of creation.

“We do not need to fear, God has given us peace through our faith and trust in Him!”

God is the King of eternity and rules steadfastly from the beginning of time until eternity. He is the eternal rock and trustworthy one. If ever there is someone to place our trust in, it is Jesus. Not only has He given up everything for us, to make a way and prove His love, but He was, is, and is to come! Give up on your own efforts, submit to God and He will give you peace.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You have taken away all of our sins with Your death on the cross. You have created the path to inner peace and peace upon this earth. Help us today to experience Your peace and share it with those around me.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
