Daily Devotional – Jesus I know Him

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Mark 1: 7-15If you were to stumble upon Jesus in a mall or walking down the road, would you recognize Him? Ravi Zacharias once said that God knows us so well that He can tell our next word, step, and movement. The question today is how well we know God?

“And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with[e] water, but he will baptize you with[f] the Holy Spirit.”

At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

12 At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, 13 and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted[g] by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

Jesus Announces the Good News

14 After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15 “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

You get to speak to and call upon the Lord Almighty. The King of kings and Lord of lords. When you cry out to God, and through His spirit speak to Him, you are speaking to the Most powerful and greatest being ever to exist. Bill Gates or Michael Jordan have nothing on Jesus!

The question is really whether we believe that. Have you taken the time to study God and know Him intimately? Do you know who He is or do you act upon second-hand knowledge? I have tasted and seen God and His provision. I have seen God provide miraculously for my family. My in-depth knowledge and first-hand experience leaves me convinced of who He is.

I’m convinced that if we really take the time to search after God, that we will come away with deep truthful knowledge of Him. God does not hide from us, rather He is always the one seeking His people out. If you really knew God, you would recognize Him waling down a street even today, just as John did when Jesus came to be baptized!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Forgive me for I have taken You for granted. I have failed to chase and search for You. I come before You today and ask that You help me as I search the depths of Your heart. Help me so that I can truly find you and truly know You?

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
