Daily Devotional – Jesus, God’s Son

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Pdalm 2:1-12. God the creator and Lord of all has already installed His King for the earth and his creation. That King is the Son of God, Jesus! No matter what we see around us, Jesus, our King is still seated on the throne.

Why do the nations conspire[a]

    and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth rise up
    and the rulers band together
    against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
“Let us break their chains
    and throw off their shackles.”

fall scents for your home

The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
    the Lord scoffs at them.
He rebukes them in his anger
    and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
“I have installed my king
    on Zion, my holy mountain.”

I will proclaim the Lord’s decree:

He said to me, “You are my son;
    today I have become your father.
Ask me,
    and I will make the nations your inheritance,
    the ends of the earth your possession.
You will break them with a rod of iron[b];
    you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”

10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
    be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear
    and celebrate his rule with trembling.
12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry
    and your way will lead to your destruction,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
    Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”

The name above every other name!

God has warned us from raising our fists and words toward His son Jesus. The ruler that God appointed to be the head of His church, reigns and rules justly. Jesus understands and knows the human experience and compassionately intercedes before the Almighty God on our behalf.

Jesus, the son of God that the Father was very pleased with, walked the earth and sacrificed His position in the heavens to the glory of the Father. Fully God and man at the same time, Jesus reached into His Godly character to heal and free those chained by sin and death.

Fully human, Jesus got to experience pain, and when He died on that cross, experienced more pain than I certainly could bear. Let us be cautious and respectful as we approach Jesus, He is after all the son of the Almighty God!

Let’s Pray

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for sacrificing the luxuries and splendor of the heavenly realms so that You could pay the price for my salvation. It is all because of You that I get to live a free life with no chains to hold me down. I declare that You are the son of God and receive Your salvation in faith!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
