Daily Devotional – I’m Not Strong Enough

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Matthew 11:25-30. So often you will hear people saying how they are not strong enough to continue. I too am guilty of looking at my challenges through my own strength and abilities, opposed to looking at them through the eyes of God.

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

When I get to the point of letting God, I finally see clearly.

God never lets us be tempted beyond what we can bear. Paul reminds us of this in 1 Corinthians 10:13. Part of the way that God has created us though is to be fully dependent and abiding in Him. We were not created to be strong in our own strength.

Rather than us mustering strength and confidence to take on bigger challenges and missions for God, we should be letting God.

So often when we hit rock bottom and have depleted all of our strength and motivation. We look up at God and blame Him. We shake our fists at Him and cry out that He does not love us. Let us rather stop running on our own strength, power, and abilities.

Let us acknowledge that we are not strong enough from the beginning, and let God!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You have given me passions and a fire within my belly to reach the world for You. Help me to stop trying in my own strength, and wait on You rather. Move mightily in my community so that people may come to truly know You!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
