Daily Devotional – Holy Spirit, You Are Welcome Here

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Exodus 34: 29-35. Do you radiate the reflection of God? If I bumped into you in the street, would I have been distracted by your shining and radiating face?

“When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord. 30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them. 32 Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai.

33 When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. 34 But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, 35 they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.”

Have you spent enough time with God?

Moses’ glow and radiance were obviously not figurative. He was literally shining from his face to face dialogue with God. Sometimes people shy away from me, not because of my radiance from God, but rather from my angry radiation. They can see that I am fuming and about to explode.

Have you ever been driving, and looked at the facial expressions of fellow travelers? I often stop myself and look at the image that others are portraying to the world. The facial expressions and mannerisms share our hearts with the world. Perhaps our only saving grace is that most people are too consumed with their own lives to notice our hearts.

How can I adjust that image?

In the same way that Moses rubbed off God, we can too. Like Moses, we do not have any barrier to us approaching God. God is welcoming all who would take Him up on His invitation. After all, God has already made the first step, the next is ours!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, for removing any barrier between You and I. Because of Your blood, I can draw near and experience Your presence. I commit to being found in Your throne room more often. Come and rub off of me!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
