Daily Devotional – Holy and Consecrated for God

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Leviticus 11:43-45. Much is always discussed about the certainty of salvation in the church. Rather than debating whether someone’s sins are forgiven or not, the focus of Jesus’ church is on being holy as He is.

Do not defile yourselves by any of these creatures. Do not make yourselves unclean by means of them or be made unclean by them. 44 I am the Lord your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves along the ground. 45 I am the Lord, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.”

Changing the focus and conversation

Fortunately, I was raised in a Christian home. My family and others around me loved God and followed Jesus. There was a definitive time in my life when I placed my life in God’s hands, but there have been many ups and downs throughout my life. Some may have stood on the sidelines and questioned my salvation.

I have mentioned before about keeping our eyes on the goal so that we move closer to this. Rather than judging whether each person is saved or unsaved, we should leave it up to the judge Himself. We should rather encourage and help everyone that we meet to focus on Jesus, their savior.

God has called us to be holy. We need to change the focus and conversation. Stop looking at what has been done wrong and focus on being holy. Jesus’ death on the cross has paid for all of our sins. No matter how “bad” or “good” those sins are. So let us not focus on what is on Jesus’s plate to accomplish, but focus on what we are doing right here and right now. Let us spend our time on striving for holiness and emulating our God!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, that You are holy. One day I will cry out before Your throne with all the ages and angels how You are holy, holy holy! Help me today by Your Holy Spirit to focus on You and reflecting Your holiness to the world around me.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
