Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Philippians 4: 4-9. You can have peace while the world and others run riot. God’s peace must overtake your thoughts and emotions by us looking unto Him alone.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”

Is God your source?

I’m writing this devotional in the midst of the Coronavirus wake. I am ever more aware of my personal frailty and weakness. As I look through the media, news and what friends have to say, a sense of hopelessness overtakes me. We are all walking around as though a heavy cloud weighs us down.

I am reminded in Philippians by Paul the apostle to not be anxious, but bring all my concerns, fears and desires before him. As I look upward toward God and rejoice in His victory on the cross and in my life. All that surrounds me becomes nothing. In comparison to who God is, nothing can even compare.

So in the darkness and despair around us, let us focus on that which is good and pure. As we focus on God and His goodness, may His peace fall on you and engulf every part of you. Then with this peace, may your gentleness be the proof to the mighty works that God has done in your life!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, that you are good and mighty. No matter my circumstances or those that consume the whole world, I can focus on You! Give me Your peace, and help my gentle, calm actions shine out for Your glory!
