Daily Devotional – Healer of All

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Matthew 8: 1-13. God is our Healer. He provides healing to our bodies, minds, and soul. God has many names for Himself in the Bible, and each one was given at a time when His people needed to hear it. Maybe you need to hear from Jehovah-Rapha.

When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.”

Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”

The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. 11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment.

The Faith of the Centurion

The God who heals had done just that. He delivered the Jewish people from the hands of their en-slavers after the crossing of the Red Sea. That’s when He revealed His new name to them in Exodus 15: 26 “for I am the Lord, your healer

When Jesus took on His earthly robe, He acted as Jehovah-Rapha in the flesh. Healing countless people every day, Jesus healed once He saw incredible faith. As with the Centurion’s faith, Jesus rewarded the faith and trust that he placed in the authority of Jesus.

Do not think that your lack of faith has caused you to not receive healing. Out of all the people’s healing accounted for, I can be confident that there were others not fortunate enough to receive healing from Jesus. Not because Jesus was not willing or able. Jesus did the Father’s will.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, that you are my healer. I come before you knowing that you are able and willing to heal. I place my faith in You and Your words to go forth and achieve Your will. I pray and ask for the healing of my world and community. Healing for their bodies, minds, emotions, and spirits!

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
