Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 8:31-38. Freedom is something given and can not be taken back. Those that live without freedom have surrendered their freedom.
“To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 38 I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.[b]”
God promises us freedom!
In reality, our lives are not our own but ones bought for a price. Jesus died on the cross to pay the ransom and price for our freedom. We celebrate and walk a life in freedom because the one that bought us has chosen to give us freedom.
We have heard the good news and celebrated the freedom that was given up for such a heavy cost. The truth has set us free from sin, death, and the burdens of this life that are always looking to enslave us.

The promise from our God and Father is that He has given us freedom. We are free to choose life or death, blessing or curse, and so it is imperative that we choose wisely.

Dear Father,
Thank you Father that You sent Jesus to truly set me free. I am free because of what You have done and so I will tell all about Your mighty works!
