Daily Devotional – God’s Promises for 2023 #18

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Isaiah 54:9-15. Having an unshakable foundation is reassuring when everything around us is changing and shaking uncontrollably. We can trust in our God that is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

“To me this is like the days of Noah,
    when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.
So now I have sworn not to be angry with you,
    never to rebuke you again.
10 Though the mountains be shaken
    and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
    nor my covenant of peace be removed,”
    says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

11 “Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted,
    I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise,[a]
    your foundations with lapis lazuli.
12 I will make your battlements of rubies,
    your gates of sparkling jewels,
    and all your walls of precious stones.
13 All your children will be taught by the Lord,
    and great will be their peace.
14 In righteousness you will be established:
Tyranny will be far from you;
    you will have nothing to fear.
Terror will be far removed;
    it will not come near you.
15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;
    whoever attacks you will surrender to you.”

God promises us a firm foundation!

God has made us a promise as He did after the flood. The rainbow in the sky is the testimony that God would never destroy His earth and creation by a flood again. In the same way, God has promised to be faithful to us.

God has promised to establish us in righteousness. The blood of Jesus secured the pathway and opportunity for all eternity. Now that you and I stand in the righteousness of Jesus, God promises to remove all the terror and tyranny from around us.

The promise from our God and Father is that He has established us onto His firm and strong rock. Let’s not jump off of it into the sea of waves to be tossed and thrown around.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that You are drawn me into Your secure and safe space. You are never changing and I can be assured of my peace for all the days of my life because of You. Hold me close today as I surrender everything to You!

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
