Daily Devotional – God’s Love Cost Him

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 3:16-21. God’s love for you has cost Him. His pain and sacrifice may not have been eternal, but watching His beloved Son be tortured and sacrificed hurt Him deeply.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”

God mourned for Jesus

Luke 23v45 “for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two” is one of the recollections of the exact time that Jesus died. When Jesus drew His last breath and gave up His spirit. The whole earth experienced the grief and pain that the Father God experienced at that very moment.

Although the Father knew that Jesus would rise again. He did have to experience the pain and anguish of watching from the bleachers. At any time, God could have called the whole thing off. God chose to experience the pain and sorrow because of His great love for you and me.

God mourned on that day, but He celebrated too! He tore the veil in the temple to open His inner courts to any that would choose to enter. He tore that veil so that you could enter and have His grace and love cover you. God tore that veil so that you could find rest and rescue in His chambers. No matter who seeks God, He has made a way for us to find Him!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You died on the cross. Many women have experienced the pain of losing a child and Father God. I acknowledge the pain that You experienced for my salvation. Love may require sacrifice from me, and I am willing to sacrifice. It is worth it knowing that You are my reward.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
