Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 97:1-12. Let us be glad and joyful because God Almighty reigns and rules forever. We can be encouraged in all situations knowing that there is a good and just God on the throne!
“The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
let the distant shores rejoice.
2 Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3 Fire goes before him
and consumes his foes on every side.
4 His lightning lights up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.
5 The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.
6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
and all peoples see his glory.
7 All who worship images are put to shame,
those who boast in idols—
worship him, all you gods!

8 Zion hears and rejoices
and the villages of Judah are glad
because of your judgments, Lord.
9 For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth;
you are exalted far above all gods.
10 Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
for he guards the lives of his faithful ones
and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light shines[a] on the righteous
and joy on the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous,
and praise his holy name.”
God still rules and reigns, no matter what our immediate situation is.
It is very clear to see as we look around that this world is filled with evil and sin. You can easily be overwhelmed with heartbreak when we see the manner in which we humans treat each other. It is so easy to succumb to the feeling and desire to just give up because of all that we see.
Let us rather follow the call of God to run into His arms and receive His salvation. God will always protect and fight on behalf of those that are weary and downtrodden.
As you rest and gain strength from the protection of your Father, begin to look at the world from the perspective of victory. Jesus won the war and has placed satan and all of his subjects beneath His foot. No matter how desperate the situation looks, gaze into the eyes of Jesus knowing that He has overcome the world!
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Jesus, that You have overcome this world and rule on the throne of the Almighty. No matter what stands before me, it is subject to You and Your Kingdom. I choose to place my hope in You knowing that my battle is not against flesh and blood.
