Daily Devotional – God Pours the Holy Spirit Upon Us

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Romans 5:1-8. Light goes out overtaking darkness every time. Darkness has never overcome a lit candle. Light has always been more powerful than darkness, and Paul offers us hope, in today’s scripture.

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we[b] boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we[c] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

The Holy Spirit has been sent to us.

God has constantly reminded us in His word. Placing your faith and hope in Him and His words will not lead to shame and disaster. Hitting what I thought was rock bottom replaced shame with hope. I was so desperate to see God’s hand move.

Putting aside my pride and sin, I realized that I was never left to the wolves. God has never forsaken me. Sometimes my perspective and what I see is not the correct or full picture.

God has poured out the Holy Spirit upon us. The Holy Spirit has come to teach and lead us to the glory of God the Father. If we listen and follow the lead more closely, our efforts will not lead to shame and disappointment.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, for pouring the Holy Spirit upon each and every one of us. I place my hope, faith, and trust in You, knowing that the one who sacrificed His Son for me, will certainly not let me fall.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
