Daily Devotional – God is Calling Us to Call on Him for Forgiveness
Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 John 1:5-10. So often we hear rumblings and murmurs about a revival. Everyone wants a life blessed with ease, financial prosperity, and peace. A life lived in peace has been paid for by the sacrifice of others.
“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[b] sin.
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.”
Jesus’s death on the cross has made righteousness possible
The forgiveness of our God is like sweet honey on our lips. There is nothing that tastes better to my soul than the freedom from all the sins and chains that have held me back all my life. What a release to my mind like a loud symphony bursting forth from the stage.
Without the forgiveness of God and the blood of Jesus, we would have no right to ask for the forgiveness that we have so freely received.
God is calling us to come before Him in prayer and in a posture of mourning and give up our evil ways and violence. I call on each of you to spread the word and encourage everyone to follow the word of God. He is calling us to repent from our selfish ways and seek His Kingdom. Be part of the international day of repentance (28 August)!
Join me and others to cry on the name of the Lord. May God yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger from our wicked generation so that we will not perish.
Let’s Pray
Dear Father,
Thank you Father that You have demonstrated Your love for Your creation from the beginning. I acknowledge that I have nothing without Your gift of righteousness, and ask that extend Your grace as I confess my sins before You.
