Daily Devotional – Who Fights Your Battles?

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Deuteronomy 31:1-8. In times of great turmoil, we are often tempted to just give up the fight, but we cannot. We want to just give in, but we cannot. Apostle Paul encouraged believers to fight the good fight of faith.

Then Moses went out and spoke these words to all Israel: “I am now a hundred and twenty years old and I am no longer able to lead you. The Lord has said to me, ‘You shall not cross the Jordan.’ The Lord your God himself will cross over ahead of you. He will destroy these nations before you, and you will take possession of their land. Joshua also will cross over ahead of you, as the Lord said. And the Lord will do to them what he did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, whom he destroyed along with their land. The Lord will deliver them to you, and you must do to them all that I have commanded you. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance. The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

God wants to go before you

He encouraged Timothy, his spiritual son in the Lord, to take hold of the eternal life to which he had been called. Paul also encouraged us, through his writings, to stand firm in our faith.

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.     I Corinthians 16:13

When you feel like giving up, don’t. We all go through times of testing when we are shaken. It is in these times when directives from the written word of God give us peace, comfort, and understanding.

Whatever you are facing today, know this; God is with you. God is for you. God is working on your behalf. Rest and know that God will fight for you. The battle belongs to the Lord. Just stand firm.

The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Exodus 14:14

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for fighting for me. Please help me to stand firm in the midst of this battle. Help me not to lose sight of your love, your protection, and your peace.
