Daily Devotional – Faithfulness You Can Stand By

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalms 85: 1-13. Faithfulness is the quality demonstrated by continuing loyalty and support. Who could be more loyal and supportive than our savior? God’s faithfulness is what had Him show up in the human form to save His creation, thousands of years from the creation.

“You, Lord, showed favor to your land;
    you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
You forgave the iniquity of your people
    and covered all their sins.[b]
You set aside all your wrath
    and turned from your fierce anger.

Restore us again, God our Savior,
    and put away your displeasure toward us.
Will you be angry with us forever?
    Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
Will you not revive us again,
    that your people may rejoice in you?
Show us your unfailing love, Lord,
    and grant us your salvation.

fall scents for your home

I will listen to what God the Lord says;
    he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants—
    but let them not turn to folly.
Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
    that his glory may dwell in our land.

10 Love and faithfulness meet together;
    righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
    and righteousness looks down from heaven.
12 The Lord will indeed give what is good,
    and our land will yield its harvest.
13 Righteousness goes before him
    and prepares the way for his steps.”

Love and Faithfulness meet together” is such a powerful statement! Love is meaningless without faithfulness, and faithfulness is the proof of love. The emotion and the commitment come together in our relationships on earth, as with the vertical relationship between us God and us.

“Righteousness and peace kiss each other” as we can not have peace without righteousness. Without us living a righteous life looking to serve and honor God, we can not expect peace. This world will search unsuccessfully for peace without the righteousness of God.

God’s faithfulness was Jesus as He allowed Himself to be nailed to the cross. He stood by His commitment to correct the world that was disrupted by sin. He didn’t come the next day to resolve it, but He came when His people were least expecting it, and in a way that they were not ready for. Because of His love, He is faithful!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for Your continued faithfulness God. I know that Your faithfulness is born out of Your love for us. Help me God to love you and those around me more. So that as I love them more, I can be more faithful to You and them.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
