Daily Devotional – Faith Demonstrated by Action

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from James 2:14-19. Action follows up faith because our confidence is in God to fulfill His promises. The actions we take demonstrate our trust and faith in God and His promises.

“What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.”

Your action is dependent on your level of faith

There is not a correct and wrong answer to how much we should work towards what we are trusting God for. The number 1 determining factor in finding the balance in how much action justifies our faith is God Himself.

If we are seeking God’s face and His purposes, we will be seeking His leadership.

So often in my life have I seen God’s provision and hand of blessing following my actions. The step in faith into the unknown based on what I believed was directing me led to me seeing God’s provision like never before.

God will blow our socks off as we step out in faith. Let us seek His will and take action today.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You are always there to support and protect me. Take my actions today as a sweet offering to You, justifying my faith in You and Your word.
