Daily Devotional – What Faith Can Do

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Hebrews 11:5-12. It is Friday, and if you have had a week like mine, you too would be glad for the weekend knocking on the door. Faith in my God who is the mountain mover and earth shaker helps me get through a week like this.

“By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.”[a] For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. 11 And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she[b] considered him faithful who had made the promise. 12 And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.”

Our faith is pivotal to bringing joy to God!

I have seen faith play such an important part in people’s lives and situations. With my eyes, I have seen God provide food and housing to those in desperate situations. I have also just hoped for faith the size of a mustard seed, but faith is an interesting commodity.

Our lives revolve around faith and in our communities today, we can easily see the erosion of faith in each other. People have become more defensive and aggressive following the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020. Imagine going to a store, and asking them to prove that the soda in the can in fact is the soda advertised on the label. This is the extreme side of life without any faith.

It is easy to see why God finds joy in our simple faith in His existence. We will only search for someone that we believe in. Placing faith in God’s word and accepting His truth pleases God. Faith also gives us a chance to rest in a hectic world.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, for creating me and placing me upon Your earth. I have searched and found You, the greatest treasure I could ever find. Help me to place all my faith, hope, and trust in You my Father in heaven.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
