Daily Devotional – Enter God’s Courts with Praise

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 100:1-5. David offers us advice and a suggestion all at the same time. While we should come before God in praise and worship, the only way to truly take our eyes off of our immediate situation is to give thanksgiving to God.

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
    Worship the Lord with gladness;
    come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
    It is he who made us, and we are his[a];
    we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
    and his courts with praise;
    give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
    his faithfulness continues through all generations.”

God inhabits the praises of His children.

There is nothing more special and thrilling than the presence of God. When you find yourself in the presence of the Almighty and King of all kings, you can not leave without being changed. The presence of God cuts us in the soul, deeper than any two-edged sword can reach.

If we are going to be changed and become sanctified into the image of Jesus Christ, then we need to be found in the presence of God. Only in His presence can God do His work. As God works in our souls and hearts, He will begin to impart Himself to us, and we can take on His character and actions.

Not only is the presence of God good for drawing us closer to His image for us, but it is refreshing. Entering the presence of God with praise and thanksgiving helps us to put life and all its challenges into perspective. With out burdens lifted, and our eyes on God, we will gain strength and refreshment!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You reward us for drawing closer to You. Not only do I get to experience the greatest reward, but You give me so much more than I could ever ask. I will keep You and Your praise on the tip of my tongue today! Take joy in my thankful heart.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
