Daily Devotional – The Community Encourages Each Other

daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Romans 1:8-15. As a child, we were encouraged to give smiles and love into the offering passing around Sunday School. We were encouraged to know that money was not the only thing that we can offer the world and the Kingdom of God!

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I mention you 10 always in my prayers, asking that somehow by God’s will I may now at last succeed in coming to you. 11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— 12 that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.

13 I do not want you to be unaware, brothers,[c] that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as well as among the rest of the Gentiles. 14 I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians,[d] both to the wise and to the foolish. 15 So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.”

Prayer is the greatest gift.

This is not meant to serve up condemnation, but rather to encourage us. Dig deeper for the body of Christ and others around you. We do not fight against flesh and blood, but our enemy is invisible and spiritual.

Living in the western culture, it is all too easy to believe that we can just throw money at a problem. I would go as far as to say that it is a cop-out for those that fill the seats of the Christian church each week. Perhaps we have been told for too long that God needs our finances. Maybe because the buildings are filled with people that are trying to buy penance. The real answer is that God does not need your money!

In fact, God wants something far more valuable, He wants all of you! Every thought, effort, prayer, and hour of our day!

God has called us to encourage each other and there is no better way than prayer. The powerful tool of intercession allows us to sacrifice our time and efforts for those around us. If we endure the temptation that enough is enough, then we will truly see breakthroughs for those that we love. Our love for them will grow deeper as we intentionally sacrifice ourselves for them! Let us get on our knees for those that matter!

Let’s Pray

Dear Jesus,

During Your time on this earth, You were constantly found praying to the Father. You are a great example of how to live a prayerful life. I choose to spend more time with You in prayer. I desire to be closer to You and more powerful for my loved ones.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
